Bent Pixels Creators Launch 48-Hour Livestream for Charity

Gaming community bands together to raise funds on Twitch for Save the Children

LOS ANGELES, CA – August 24, 2016 – The online gaming community is helping children in need through a 48-hour Twitch Stream-a-thon hosted by multi-channel network Bent Pixels.  The fundraiser, to benefit global charity Save the Children, will run from Friday, August 26 to Sunday, August 28. A roster of gamers participating in the game-a-thon on Twitch is already established, and additional interested participants may apply to join.

“When our talent management team approached me about this initiative, I immediately wanted to support it as a company,” said Mike Pusateri, CEO of Bent Pixels. “Giving of our time and resources for charity is a big part of the Bent Pixels philosophy, and in the past we have supported charities such as the United Way and Pledge 1%, so it was an easy decision to help such a great cause.”

“In my experience with the online video industry, I’ve seen so many YouTubers helping others that it motivated me to help people without education, food, or water,” said Shane Johnson, a Bent Pixels talent manager who organized the fundraiser with team members Jason Martone and Thomas Burleigh. “The community that we have established as video creators and gamers not only makes it easy to make and share content, but also to give back.”

Gamers wishing to live stream can apply here and, once approved, will be provided with a stream key for use during their time slot. Viewers and supporters may tune in to the Bent Pixels Twitch channel starting on Friday the 26th at 5:00 pm EDT to interact with streamers or visit the donation page to contribute to Save the Children. The Twitter hashtag for the event is #twitchstreamforcharity.
